Rubber balloons, air, helium gas and time

The piece is made out of two big rubber balloons (variable diameter). The balloon above is filled with helium gas and the one below is filled with air. The two are tied together by their respective mouths. This condition allows them to float vertically through space and, in a balance of gravitational forces, alternate a movement of ascents, descents and unpredictable displacements, also dependent on changes in temperature and other air displacements in the same space. On these photos, the installation was made at the exhibition “We make versions”, Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster, Germany in 2011. Credits of photos: Carla Guagliardi.
