good morning / good afternoon

2002
Two walls of bricks in semi-circles shapes (see drawing)
variable dimension

The two walls were built in order to create a „territory of strangeness“ right in the entrance of the museum as well as to integrate part of the street (a public space) into it. This piece was done for an exhibition that had the slum as a theme,or better saying ,it was the result of a period of conviviality between the artists and the community of slums in Rio de Janeiro. The spaces in a slum (favela) are mostly conquered in the same way and although I tried to treat the subject in the most sculptural way, it is interesting to add that the work caused such a strangeness that there were even protests of deputies and other people against this construction next to a museum, bringing the discussion about the theme to a very interesting point. Photos: view from the street side and view from the yard side.
